Chiesa di Santa Maria
La chiesetta nasce intorno alla metà del 1700 e dopo un periodo di abbandono, in seguito al terremoto del 1783, fu ricostruita dal Comune tra il 1952 e il 1956.
In questa chiesa abbiamo una testimonianza tangibile della fede delle genti che vivevano a Bivongi. Nel piccolo campanile, si trova infatti un’antica campana, donata da una devota, datata 1756, che riporta la scritta a rilievo “Caterina Rigio Terre Bivongi”.
This small church was built around the mid-18th century, and, after a period of neglect, following the earthquake of 1783, it was rebuilt by the Municipality between 1952 and 1956.
In this church lies a tangible testimony of the faith of Bivongi residents. Indeed, in the small bell tower, there is an ancient bell, donated by a pious woman, dated 1756, which bears the writing in relief “Caterina Rigio Terre Bivongi”.
